Art Hub Siouxland Picks Five in Four (December 5-8)

Life is short, and the list of Siouxland art events can be surprisingly long.  So if you’re feeling a little overwhelmed, we’ve highlighted five events you can hit in four weekend days (Thursday-Sunday).

Thursday, December 5:

There’s lots of theatre this weekend, so get an early start on the weekend with a play.  The good news is that on this weekend night, you don’t have to travel too far.

If you live in Sioux City, try Matilda at Lamb Arts Regional Theatre.  If you live north of Sioux City, think of catching The Hunchback of Notre Dame at USD.  And if you’re south or east, Wayne Community Theatre is putting on Eight: Reindeer Monologues

Friday, December 6:

If you’re looking for some classical music with a wintry feel to offset all the holiday pop hits already overflowing the retail stores, head over to Vermillion for The Nutcracker Suite with the USD Symphony Orchestra.  The concert is held in Aalfs Auditorium in Slagle Hall (not in the fine arts building) and is—wait for it—completely free

Saturday, December 7:

Start your Saturday with some visual art in downtown Sioux City.  Gallery 103 is open from 10:00-1:00.

Christmas Belles opens at Sioux City Community Theatre this weekend.  Finish your Saturday with this southern farce about a doomed church Christmas program.

Sunday, December 8:

Top off your weekend with A Christmas Carol at New Stage Players in South Sioux City, Nebraska.  Or if you’re north and west, A Christmas Carol is also playing at Lewis and Clark Theatre Company in Yankton.
